What Determines the Price of Custom Forged Wheels
Why two forged wheel quotes rarely match — construction, size, finish, packaging, incoterm and volume, and how to compare quotes fairly.

A forged wheel has no list price, because it is built to a specification. When two suppliers quote the same model code at different prices, the difference is almost always in the specification behind the number — not in the wheel in the photo.
Construction
Monoblock, two-piece and three-piece are different manufacturing routes. A monoblock wheel is one forged piece; a three-piece wheel is a barrel, lip and face assembled with fasteners. More parts mean more machining, more assembly and more handling — which shows up in the price.
Size and width
A larger diameter and a wider barrel consume more material and take longer to forge and machine. Moving from a common size to an uncommon one also changes tooling and scheduling.
Finish
A single solid colour is one process. A brushed face, a polished lip and a multi-stage finish are separate operations, often done by hand. If a quote does not state the finish in the same detail as your request, it is not the same product.
Volume and configuration mix
Repeat configurations and single-model runs schedule differently from mixed-model trial orders. This is why per-unit price moves with volume, and why a small trial order is not simply a container order divided by count.
Packaging
Individual boxing, foam inserts, palletizing and branded cartons change both material cost and freight volume. Ask what the quote assumes, then decide whether your market needs more.
Incoterm and destination
FOB, CIF and DDP cover different scopes of freight, insurance and duty. A DDP quote that looks higher than an FOB quote may simply include what you were going to pay a forwarder for anyway.
Ask for the same configuration quoted twice — once FOB and once DDP. The gap tells you what the freight chain actually costs.
How to compare two quotes fairly
Line up construction, size, width, finish, packaging and incoterm on one sheet. If any line is blank, ask for it in writing. A quote you cannot compare is not a cheaper quote — it is an unknown one.
Send your full specification to sales and we quote against it line by line, so you can compare like for like.
